titlelines Device Replacement Education & Awareness
Implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs) and pacemakers have been shown to be an effective treatment to manage arrhythmias and reduce mortality in patients who have been resuscitated from a cardiac arrest. It is generally recognized that device replacement rates increase following the announcement of device advisories and manufacturer upgrades, e.g. implantation of a CRT to replace an ICD.

Clinicians require updated data on complications outcomes in order to appropriately advise patients on the risks and benefits of device replacement. The Society is pleased to provide education and awareness on safety measures for device implantation to prevent complications and allow for early diagnoses of problems as well as recent prospective data collected on complication rates following device replacement.

Didactic Webcast Presentations

New! The Society is pleased to provide didactic webcast presentations and summaries on the latest strategies, techniques, and innovations related to device implantation and revision. Earn CME or CE credit by participating in the following programs:

Device Replacement Clinical Brief

The number of device implants has escalated--particularly defibrillators--and as a result the volume of revisions has increased. This Device Replacement Clinical Brief (a printable, single page document) reviews the indications and factors to take into consideration before, during, and post revision.

Interviews with Leading Experts on Device Replacement

Interviews with prominent clinicians, who are experts on device replacement best practices and served as contributors to the REPLACE Registry Clinical Trial, were conducted at the American Heart Association's 2009 Annual Scientific Sessions in Orlando, FL.
