Implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs) and pacemakers have been shown to be an effective treatment to manage arrhythmias and reduce mortality in patients who have been resuscitated from a cardiac arrest. It is generally recognized that device replacement rates increase following the announcement of device advisories and manufacturer upgrades, e.g. implantation of a CRT to replace an ICD.
Clinicians require updated data on complications outcomes in order to appropriately advise patients on the risks and benefits of device replacement. The Society is pleased to provide education and awareness on safety measures for device implantation to prevent complications and allow for early diagnoses of problems as well as recent prospective data collected on complication rates following device replacement.
