On November 16th, along with more than 100 national and state medical associations, HRS co-signed a letter to Congressional House of Representatives and Senate leaders calling for legislative action to avert the impending 3.37% cut to the 2024 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule. We also need your help to stop the cut!
Please push your local members of Congress to co-sign the Dear Colleague letter addressed to House and Senate leaders urging expeditious legislative action to avoid an across-the-board fee schedule reduction. Absent congressional intervention, physicians will be forced to endure, effective January 1, 2024, another round of damaging cuts stemming from statutory budget neutrality requirements within the fee schedule final rule. Please note that physicians are still facing a 3.37% cut despite the fact that Congress previously authorized a 1.25% increase to the conversion factor for calendar year 2024 in the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2023 (CAA 2023).
The Dear Colleague letter, authored by House of Representatives physician members Mariannette Miller Meeks, MD (R-IA), Larry Bucshon, MD (R-IN), Ami Bera, MD (D-CA), and Kim Schrier, MD (D-WA) notes that “ If Congress does not act this year, Medicare payments will have been cut by almost 10% in four years, which is simply unsustainable for our nation's medical groups, physicians, and other health care providers.” The Heart Rhythm Society strongly supports the Dear Colleague letter and needs you to lend your support by encouraging your members of Congress to co-sign it before the tentative December 12th deadline.
If you do not know your state Senator or House Representative member, a list is available online. If you are a member of the American College of Cardiology, please visit the grassroots action alert system to engage with your lawmakers on this important issue.
