Process
The Editor-in-Chief and Associate Editors evaluate data on the priority, citation, usage, and PlumX scores of all research articles published in the journal in a given year. The Editors nominate the best papers in the basic and clinical categories and select authors who fall within the appropriate training requirements of the award.
Frequency: two awards given annually; one for clinical and one for basic research
