October 1, 2024 – If you were impacted by the Change Healthcare cyberattack in 2023 and unable to submit a MIPS Extreme and Uncontrollable Circumstances (EUC) Exception Application for performance year 2023 before the April 15, 2024, deadline, CMS is allowing requests for reweighting for one more MIPS performance categories.
If you were impacted by the Change Healthcare cyberattack in 2023 and unable to submit a MIPS Extreme and Uncontrollable Circumstances (EUC) Exception Application for performance year 2023 before the April 15, 2024, deadline, CMS is allowing requests for reweighting for one more MIPS performance categories now through October 11, 2024, at 8:00 PM ET.
CMS will only approve applications citing the Change Healthcare cyberattack. CMS also will not reweight any performance category for which it has already received data and will instead calculate a score for that performance category.
Note that these special requests must be submitted through the MIPS Targeted Review form (rather than the MIPS EUC Exception Application form), which can be accessed by signing into the secure Quality Payment Program (QPP) portal. Additional information is available through the 2023 MIPS EUC Reweighting Requests Guide.
