March 4, 2025 – The government funding package passed by Congress in December included a short-term extension of telehealth flexibilities, including those related to geographic requirements and originating sites, through March 31.

An earlier version of the funding package had included provisions to extend the telehealth flexibilities for two years and to temporarily reinstate in-home cardiopulmonary rehabilitation flexibilities that ceased at the end of the COVID-19 public health emergency. These telehealth flexibilities had advanced through the House committees of jurisdiction with unanimous bipartisan support.

Telehealth policy flexibilities granted during the pandemic and extended by Congress in 2022 have supported access to vital health care services nationwide for millions of Americans. It is urgent that Congress act to extend or make permanent these important telehealth flexibilities in advance of the March 31 deadline to ensure access to virtual care continues to be available to patients without interruption.

The clock is ticking – contact your representative and senators today and urge them to protect access to telehealth services.
