HRS Submits Comments on Medicare CY 2025 Proposed Rules for the Physician Fee Schedule and the Ambulatory Surgery Center Covered Procedures List
On September 9th, HRS submitted comments to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) in response to the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (PFS) and the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) proposed rules for calendar year (CY) 2025.
The PFS comment letter addresses HRS longstanding discontent with the annual reductions to the conversion factor and the pressure this places on Medicare patient access to electrophysiology services. HRS also urged CMS to work with Congress to expand access to care by maintaining telehealth flexibilities, addressed CMS proposals related to 90-day global packages, and commented on the administrative burden and lack of meaningful specialty-specific quality and cost components of the Quality Payment Program (QPP).
The ASC comment letter urges CMS to add catheter ablation services to the covered procedures list for CY 2025. The request is supported by global real-world evidence, safety data, CMS outpatient hospital claims data, and practice survey results.
The CY 2025 final rules are expected to be published around November 1, 2024. HRS will provide updates on both rules at that time.
