CMS Releases Updated Medicare Policy on ICDs
ICD coverage has been a major issue for the past few years with False Claim Act allegations resulting in hundreds of millions of dollars in settlements between the U.S. Department of Justice and hospitals nationwide. The Heart Rhythm Society and our partners who share a commitment to patients with heart rhythm disorders have been actively seeking better alignment between Medicare coverage and current clinical practice.
On Thursday February 15, 2018, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released its updated National Coverage Decision (NCD) for ICDs. It is the first major update to ICD coverage since 2005.
