February 4, 2025 – The 119th Congress is underway with key congressional committees with health care jurisdiction welcoming new members and leadership. In the Senate, the Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee will be led by Chair Bill Cassidy, MD (R-LA) and Ranking Member Bernie Sanders (I-VT).

Joining the HELP Committee are Senators Tim Scott (R-SC), Josh Hawley (R-MO), Mike Crapo (R-ID), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Jim Banks (R-IN), Angela Alsobrooks (D-MD), Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-DE), and Andy Kim (D-NJ).  Senators Ted Budd (R-NC), Ben Ray Luján (D-NM), and Tina Smith (D-MN) have been moved off of the committee.

The Senate Finance Committee will be led by Chair Mike Crapo (R-ID) and Ranking Member Ron Wyden (D-OR). Joining the Finance Committee are Senators Roger Marshall, MD (R-KS), Ben Ray Luján (D-NM), Tina Smith (D-MN), Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Raphael Warnock (D-GA), and Peter Welch (D-VT).

In the House of Representatives, the Committee on Energy and Commerce added ten new members on the majority side, including Representatives Cliff Bentz (R-OR), Gabe Evans (R-CO), Julie Fedorchak (R- ND), Russell Fry (R-SC), Craig Goldman (R-TX), Erin Houchin (R-IN), Tom Kean (R-NJ), Nick Langworthy (R-NY), Laurel Lee (R-FL), and Mike Rulli (R-OH).  On the minority side, seven new members will be added, including Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Jake Auchincloss (D-MA), Troy Carter (D-LA), Rob Menendez (D-NJ), Kevin Mullin (D-CA), Greg Landsman (D-OH), and Jennifer McClellan (D-VA). The panel will be led by Chair Brett Guthrie (R-KY) and Ranking Member Frank Pallone (D-NJ).  Representative Buddy Carter, (R-GA) will serve as Health Subcommittee chair, and Representative Neal Dunn, MD (R-FL) as Health Subcommittee Vice-Chair, and Representative Diana DeGette (D-CO.) as Health Subcommittee ranking member.

The House Committee on Ways and Means will see the addition of Representatives Rudy Yakym (R-IN), Max Miller (R-OH), Nathaniel Moran (R-TX), Aaron Bean (R-FL), Brendan Boyle (D-PA), and Delegate Stacy Plaskett (D-VI). Committee leadership includes Chair Jason Smith (R-MO), Ranking Member Richard Neal (D-MA), Health Subcommittee Chair Vern Buchanan (R-FL), and Health Subcommittee Ranking Member Lloyd Doggett (D-TX).
