April 1, 2025 -The Senate Finance Committee convened a hearing on March 14th to consider the nomination of Dr. Mehmet Oz, a cardiothoracic surgeon, to serve as the Administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Dr. Oz’s testimony focused on the three priorities he will pursue if confirmed by the Senate:
- Empowering beneficiaries with better tools and more transparency to better manage their health and navigate the health care system;
- Incentivizing health care providers to optimize care with real time information within their workflow; and
- Modernizing tools to reduce fraud, waste, and abuse.
The committee voted to favorably recommend the nomination to the full Senate in a party line vote. The full Senate is expected to vote soon on Dr. Oz’s nomination.
