2023 Press Release/Statements

Washington, October 3, 2023 – The Heart Rhythm Society (HRS) introduces CardiQ, a digital platform for current, comprehensive, and engaging resources, designed for clinicians seeking to transform care and outcomes for their patients with atrial fibrillation (AFib).

AFib is a common heart arrhythmia that affects millions of people worldwide. It can lead to stroke, heart failure, and other serious health problems. Guidelines recommend that patients with AFib be treated for stroke prevention, rhythm management, and rate control; however, many patients do not receive the care they need.

CardiQ provides health systems with a roadmap for improving the quality of care for patients with AFib and is expected to grow and evolve through contributions from clinicians worldwide. The website includes a variety of tools and resources, such as:

  • A quality improvement framework for AFib care
  • A library of evidence-based resources
  • A community for sharing ideas and best practices

"CardiQ is poised to become a game-changer for the field of AFib care," said Jodie L. Hurwitz, MD, FHRS, President of the Heart Rhythm Society. "With contributions from heart rhythm specialists worldwide, it will become the most comprehensive and engaging resource available for improving the care of patients with AFib. We are excited to share CardiQ with clinicians worldwide to help health systems improve the lives of their patients."

CardiQ offers a number of potential benefits for health systems, including:

  • Improved patient care and outcomes: By providing resources to help clinicians treat patients according to clinical guidelines, CardiQ may help health systems reduce the risk of stroke, heart failure, and other complications of AFib.
  • Reduced costs: Improved care may help health systems save money by reducing the number of hospital readmissions and other costs associated with AFib.
  • Increased patient satisfaction: CardiQ may help health systems improve patient experience by providing ideas and experiences related to better access to care, improving the quality of care, and engaging patients in their own self-care.
  • Improved staff satisfaction: Clinicians want to provide the best possible care. CardiQ may help health systems improve staff satisfaction by providing a comprehensive resource for optimal management of their AFib patients.
