March 9, 2020—This document provides a state-of-the-art review of currently available three-dimensional mapping systems in the field of cardiac tachyarrhythmias and describes the use of three-dimensional mapping systems and includes recommendations regarding their application in clinical practice based on scientific evidence. In cases where these useful systems are not available or cannot be used in a wide scale due to financial constraints, electrophysiology procedures should be offered to patients based on established indications.
This expert consensus statement describes the use of three-dimensional (3D) mapping systems and includes recommendations regarding their application in clinical practice.
The advent of 3D mapping has been a very useful development for the field of cardiac electrophysiology. Technological advances have made this technique increasingly useful for improving both the safety and efficacy of ablation therapy. It is increasingly accepted that 3D mapping is the first option in many arrhythmia substrates, and the use of this technology must be improved to further understand the principles of cardiac electrophysiology. Through this, the mechanisms of arrhythmias and the strategies by which these can be treated may be enhanced.
