March 27, 2023 – In January, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) released a proposed rule that would prevent employers from entering in to non-compete contracts with workers and rescind existing agreements. Non-compete agreements prohibit employed physicians who want to leave their employer from continuing to practice medicine in the same community for a specified period of time. HRS supports the FTC proposal to ban use of non-compete agreements to ensure patients have access to care as needed.
