Douglas P. Zipes Lectureship Award
Purpose
The Douglas P. Zipes Lecture is awarded to an individual who has made a significant and unique contribution to the field of cardiac pacing and electrophysiology (scientist or clinician).

Process
The HRS President and Heart Rhythm Program Committee Chair informally poll the basic science community and present a recommendation for the winner of this award to the President of CES to make a final selection. The lectureship is not considered one of HRS' 'Distinguished Awards' and therefore does not follow HRS' formal award nomination process.
The presentation format of the lectureship varies depending on the decision of the Heart Rhythm session schedule. The scheduling of the lecture presentation should be appropriate for the recipient and the program.
Frequency: one award given annually
Award
Award winners receive:
- Complimentary registration to the current year's Heart Rhythm
- A lectureship at Heart Rhythm
- $1,000 honorarium
- $2,500 for the honoree's travel and housing expenses
- $250 award plaque
