The Joan and Douglas P. Zipes Publication of the Year Award honors the seminal article published in the Heart Rhythm Journal each year that most contributed to major advances in understanding and/or treating cardiac arrhythmias.

The Joan and Douglas P. Zipes Publication of the Year Award has been established to honor the seminal article published in the Heart Rhythm Journal each year that most contributed to major advances in understanding and/or treating cardiac arrhythmias.

- Editor-in-Chief and Associate Editors of the Heart Rhythm Journal
Process
The Editor-in-Chief and Associate Editors evaluate data on the priority, citation, usage, and Altmetrics of all research articles published in the journal in a given year. The Editors choose an article according to the excellence of science, novelty, and impact to the field of heart rhythm management.
Frequency: one award given annually
Award
Award winners receive:
- First Author to receive plaque, $1000 honorarium, complimentary registration, and up to $2500 travel and accommodation stipend to Heart Rhythm
- Corresponding/Senior (Lead) author to receive plaque
- Paper certificates for any/all other authors with plaque wording
Award recipients will be announced and recognized at the Heart Rhythm Society's annual meeting. This award is generously supported by the Joan and Douglas P. Zipes Endowment Fund.
