Black EPs have traditionally been underrepresented at the executive level within the healthcare ecosystem. Furthermore, representation of Black EPs at national heart rhythm-related symposia and meetings, research consortia, and in heart rhythm related publications is unbalanced. In health care, this underrepresentation has implications for improving inclusivity and decision-making, for addressing issues related to access and well-being among underserved communities. This underrepresentation not only impacts the well-being of communities, but it also impacts the well-being of our organization.
This lack of diversity within the EP field presents an opportunity to drive change from within our organization. Our objective is to close this unwanted diversity gap. GLOBE is an executive-level leadership program, expertly curated to support the needs of Black EPs while developing opportunities to increase their visibility within their institutions and the EP ecosystem at large.
GLOBE will provide black electrophysiologists access to peer-to-peer networking, subject matter experts, and coaching to enhance their career trajectory.
The Growth and Leadership Opportunity for Women in Electrophysiology (GLOWE) program addresses women's opportunities and challenges within the context of an EP career and will help participants put effective, collaborative methods of leadership to work within HRS and their organizations. Participants will focus on developing leadership skills and personal influence as well as exploring strategies for goal development and advancement strategies.
GLOWE offers women electrophysiologists with a unique opportunity to enhance their leadership and career development skills through education, coaching, and building professional networks. The purpose of GLOWE is to provide the knowledge and skills needed to enhance the path to leadership within HRS and academic or private practice medicine. Focus areas will include strategic communication skills, negotiation practices, management, and conflict resolution. As the leading organization for EP leaders, the value of being a part of this career shaping experience is unparalleled.
The HRS Leadership and Education for Allied Professionals (LEAP) Program offers HRS allied professional members an opportunity to enhance and revitalize their leadership and career development skills through education, coaching, and building professional networks. The purpose of LEAP is to provide the knowledge and skills needed to augment the path to leadership within HRS and academic or private practice medicine. Topics covered will range from strategic communication skills, and negotiation practices to address management issues, and conflict resolution skills. LEAP will provide a safe environment to forge long-lasting collegial relationships, exchange information and elevate best practices.
The LEAP program touches on the opportunities and challenges that allied professionals face in their heart rhythm career and allows participants to employ effective, collaborative methods of leadership within their organizations and HRS. Participants will focus on developing their leadership skills and personal influence as well as explore strategies for goal development and advancement strategies. As the leading organization for EP leaders, the value of being a part of this career shaping experience is unparalleled.
